Fleetwood Town FC, based in Fleetwood, Lancashire, were officially established in 1997. However, their history dates back to being founded in 1908, with three previous incarnations before becoming the team known today.
The Cods, as they are known, gained promotion to the Football League in 2012, after playing in the lower tiers of English football since their original formation.
They stayed in League Two for just two seasons, before earning promotion to League One via the playoffs in the 2013/14 season. They have been in the league ever since, finishing as high as fourth in one season and making the playoffs.
Fleetwood Town FC has a strong fan base and is known for its passionate supporters, the ‘Cod Army’. The club also has a youth academy that is dedicated to developing young players and providing them with opportunities to progress into the first team.
<h2>Fleetwood Town Stadium</h2>
The Cods play their home games at the Highbury Stadium which has a capacity of 5,327.
The last expansion of the stadium was completed in 2011 and saw a two-phase project to construct, and update the north and west terraces, car parking, floodlights, and the new Main Stand.
As such, Highbury Stadium, while small in capacity, features more modern facilities and features a number of executive boxes, and a function suite.

Fleetwood’s biggest rivals are their Fylde Coast neighbours, Blackpool. The clubs have met just 13 times, with Blackpool holding seven wins to Fleetwood’s one and five draws.
